Rights Respecting School
Cantref Primary School Is A Rights Respecting School.
What is a Rights Respecting School?
·Children and adults work together to act upon the rights of the child with respect to the school, the local community and the wider world.
·We believe that by understanding their own rights children learn to appreciate and uphold the rights of others. Children’s rights are unconditional.
·At Cantref, children learn about their rights through the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
·Children learn that with rights come responsibilities.
·Children take on leadership roles within the school and play a full and active part in the decision making processes that help to improve the education provided by our school.
·We are delighted to announce that, in July 2012, Cantref was awarded the status of Rights Respecting School Level 2 in recognition of our work in this area.
At Cantref the children, staff, governors and parents work together to make sure that every child has the right to :
·learn and have a voice
·relax and play in a safe environment
·a happy and healthy life
·be looked after, cared for and protected from harm
·be loved, valued and respected
